Yer. I do like small venues. Saying that I go the Academy 1 at least a couple of times a month whereas I've only been to the Apollo a handfull of times so maybe I'm just being biased 
When I have been the sound hasn't been the best either on more than 1 occasion. 
Don't get me wrong the Apollo's good. A bit larger than a like but the upstairs seating makes it feel a bit more intimate (I do have major issues with people going to gigs and sitting down, why would you EVER do it I don't know?!). The slopping floor's a good touch, needs a bigger bar though (like most places mind).
