How to Haggle with O2

What sort of banter would you use with o2 to get a better contract off of them?

I've been with em 3 years on same £25 contract and never missed a payment, i;ve had some £100+ bills before aswell.

Ringing tomorrow to get new phone and tarriff - when i spoke to them mid week they offered my 600anytime mins + 1000text for £40 a month, doesnt seem to amazing, what do you guys suggest?

Threaten to leave?
 
Right, Basically your entitiled to whatever new customers are, at a minimum.

On an 18m contract that is 600 minutes, 1000 texts and free calls/or/ texts sat, sun and mon.

But since you have been with them a long time, and have some good bills, id push for that either on a 12 month deal, or more usage - just plain and simply tell them that orange will do you a better deal and keep argueing till they give in!
 
You wont beable to get an awesome deal anymore, the days of them chucking you a free phone with a limitless amount of calls and txts for very little every month is over.

I called retentions the other week to see what I could push out of them this time. Last year I managed to get my £30 a month tariff (200 mins and 400 mins rolling over) down to £20, plus a free Samsung e900, and I hardly ever go over my inclusive amount! To be honest I was perfectly happy to simply renew the deal I already had and maybe get a phone chucked in too. Wasn't happening..

Started the convo with the standard "I've been looking around and can get a better deal elsewhere so I'd like my PAC code" expecting them to bite hard. "Ok sir, for £15 a month [bingo!] we can give you 100mins and 200txts!" WHAT?! I questioned that offer comparing it to the competition who were better as standard. "Ok sir, for an extra £10 a month we can throw in 20mb's of GPRS downloads". How stupid. I tried pushing him a bit further but he said that was all he could offer. He wouldn't even renew the deal I had going at the time for £10 off each month.

I moved onto handsets...I wanted the XDA Trium (also known as the T-Mob Vario2 or Orange 3100). The best he could offer was £240!! T-mobile offer theirs for £100 cheaper on a similar tariff!!

So anyway with that I asked for my PAC, thinking maybe when he thought I was serious he would step it up, but nothing. Got it in a txt a few days after accompanied by a letter in the post.

Went straight to T-mob, got a Flext tariff which are excellent value and unlimited internet for an extra £7.50 a month. Bargain!
 
The unlimited net on t-mobile is temptingg mind.

I dont want an 18month mind, was gonna try n get them to knock the 600min/1000text to 30 a month
 
Say to O2 retentions that you've been with them all this time, found them fantastic and really don't want to leave, but t-mob/orange/voda have offered you a fantastic deal and if you can't get it matched/bettered you'll have no other choice to leave. Drive a hard bargain, i asked for a free N95 on a £25 contract knowing full well that i'd never get it, but then i "conceded" and said 'ok i could go up to £30 a month but that is the maximum, and i'll take the deal now if they can do that for you'.
 
Don't limit yourself to O2 for a start.

What phone do you want?
I mean I get a U600 750mins, 3000 texts for £25 vodafone 18 month after chequeback. Go into the shop or on the phone if you're good at haggling and you can get massive bargains (they'll do almost anything to sell you the phone, not willingly though), but if you have no spine online is the way to go.
 
do not call them once keep trying diff ppl give diff things i found...i managed to get my two £30 tariffs renewed with the same mins and texts(can not remember the entitlement sorry) but at £15 per month and two new phones

this happened after a week of calls and then saying i am outside carphone warehouse and need my pac code asap.

VERY good advice IMHO.
the level of service and understanding of their job seems to vary considerably. ALWAYS call retentions more than once.
