How to increase the FOV in BF3 from the locked 70 to 90 :)

Evening chaps.... Just found this so i though you might want to get in on the FOV goodness.

Currently the BETA FOV is locked at 70 degrees but you can force it to 90 degrees if you do the below:
NOTE THIS WILL HIT YOUR FPS HARD!!

Find and open PROF_SAVE_body with NOTEPAD
About the 6th row down find FieldOfView 70.000000 and change it to 90.000000

Enjoy a more awesome FOV

UPdated as opening and svaing in wordpad corrupted the file and caused the game not to load, do the above in notepad and its fine

It doesnt affect fps but you cant go higher than 99, otherwise the game wont launch. I want 110-120 but i cant set it.

I tried looking through the main thread before, went through about 10 pages before giving up, the main page doesn't even have it.

Threads should get locked once a certain post count is reached, it keeps the info up to date when a new thread is made.

Might be a coincidence but beta won't launch for me after trying this. Even changed it back and it still won't. Says initializing in battlelog then nothing

I just went and renamed the file to something else and the game launched now.

I just went and renamed the file to something else and the game launched now.

can u give us an update on how u fixed it if u manage it.

Might need the original unaltered file (rather than just changing it back in the file) if the game has any kinda file integrity check to prevent cheating.

Use a decent text editor like Notepad++ whatever editor you have used has broken the file. Delete the broken file, launch the game, exit and edit it again with Notepad++.

It's because HybridX told everyone to use wordpad, which breaks the file
