How to install new SSD?

I've ordered myself a new SSD and harddrive, to replace my two aging harddrives.

Is it a simple process of imaging the drives across to the new drives? If so, what software would people recommend? Would Macrium Reflect do the job?

Anything else I need to be aware of, on a Windows 7 64-bit installation?

its simple to clone to your new ssd provided the os/data will fit onto the new drive

heres a step by step guide

also what motherboard?

if the data wont fit then youll need to do clean install on new ssd, makesure your sata ports are in ahci mode, older boards default to ide which is a lot slower for ssd's

so set to ahci,install windows

It's going to be installed on to an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard, which already has AHCI enabled. I already know that I won't see anywhere near the full potential speed of the drive until I upgrade, but I am hoping that this SSD will make the machine far more bearable for a little longer. From what I've read, I can expect positive results.

The data should fit, but I haven't fiddled with partitioning for a while. I should be able to get away with imaging partition C: from the HDD to the new C: on the SSD. Then the new harddrive will be partitioned to accommodate the remaining partitions.

I think Samsung evo rapid mode helps more with sata2 boards, thats if you have that drive,if not any ssd will be a huge deal faster
