Drive 1100+ miles in 4 days in a Ford Transit.

The Audi feels soooooooo nice afterwards. Feels seriously quick too with its 152bhp vs. the van's god-knows-how little. Did they ever make a last gen LWB Hi-top transit without a turbo or was this one just broken?

What fool ever said vans were fun to drive?

I do 1000 town miles a week in LWB Hi Top Transit/Sprinter/Iveco and manage just fine! The transits do have turbos but you really wouldn't know it!

my work van is fast (110 hdi + tuning box :p ) but uncomfy and noisy

still nice to be back in a proper car though

I couldn't hear or feel any sign of one. This was a previous gen (the one which has just been replaced) with I'd assume a 2.5TD?

Granted I never actually opened the bonnet to check :p.

When people talked about the difference between older diesels and the new common rail variety I didn't think it would be that profound but this thing was horrible.

I did however manage 85mph indicated, unladen, after 2 miles downhill with my foot nailed to the floor.

My mates dads city link van feels fast and fun...turbo is bloody loud in it aswell! Sounds like a chaved up scooby most of the time...

Errr... more info please. I want to try one of these vans which sound like scoobys.

Mine sounded like a horse being violated by a much larger horse.

Wasn't so much the sound as in the scooby burble just that most around here have a really gay sounding dumpvalve which this van sounded like.

Driven the Company’s Kangoo 1.9D many times, and my god it has the comfiest seat in the world. Not the same seating angle as a transit thou. :p Could cover many, many miles in that no problem, it going Thurr Well viaduct empty at 70+ is not a nice experience ;) :p

Yep the transits sound crap, wheras sprinters/turbodailys are much quieter and you can hear the turbo spooling up and dumping quite clearly.

pah, I drove well over 1200 miles in 3 days in the woeful vauxhall combo

Awful awful van.
Loud, terribly uncomfortable, slow, and Im sure fumes were leaking into the cockpit.
I never want to drive that waste of metal again
