At the minute I have a 1tb hhd and a 256gb ssd for games origin on the ssd due to battlefield and steam on the hhd due to its size.

Now the loading times on GTAV can be quite long so would like to shorten them by putting it on my SSD.

Any Ideas on how to go about this ?

You can install steam games on any drive you like, you just goto the settings and add a new library folder where steam will look for games.

Just add a new location to that.

Did you even read my post?? You can install steam games to as many drives as you like you just need to add the locations.

Not every game allows this, for some reason some have to install to the drive that Steam is installed to, as you get no option to move it.

You can of course use a junction link, but not all games give the choice.

No idea what would cause that, Steam is on my OS SSD drive, my games are on a different drive. Rough guess I have over 600 games and have never had an issue with steam being on my OS drive and all my games on a different drive tbh.

Have to echo this really!
Steam installed to C : programfilesx86/steam(ssd)
games installed to D : programfilesx86/steamlibrary(hdd)
Whenever you download a new game the option arises to select location. Provided you create a new location To begin with.

What games just out of interest because I have a separate SSD just for Steam and I haven't had any issues yet having every game on there?

Yeah, I have no issue having Steam installed on my SSD and most of my games installed on a HDD. There's really no need for these third party utilities.

Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > Add Library Folder. Then during game installations click the arrow next to "Install under..." and select the new location. Easy.

Is it possible to move games currently installed on my SSD across to my HDD?

Would I just need to move the files and then change the file locations in steam?

Witcher or anyone else...

Moved my GTA V game to my SSD using steam mover. I now have two full copies of the game, one in my mech HDD and the other in my SSD. Is it ok to delete the mech folder completely or do I need to keep it?

Thanks

Long as it is loading fine from your SSD you can delete it, make sure it is loading from the SSD and not the mech folder. Move it out of the mech Steam folder so Steam can't even see the game and then launch it. If it launches from the SSD you can delete the mech one. To be honest though m8 don't even use those third party tools. Just make a steam folder on your SSD, drag the game over to that folder. Steam > Downloads > Steam Library Folders and just add as many new locations as you want.
