How to link a steam game to an SSD ?

Is it possible to move games currently installed on my SSD across to my HDD?

Would I just need to move the files and then change the file locations in steam?

You can use steammover, or simply copy the folder over to the hdd, then in steam select delete local content which will uninstall it (from ssd) and then choose to download and when it asks for location just select folder on hdd and it will detect the files and you will be good to go.

Spot on. Cheers!

I don't want to copy my whole steam folder its nearly 700gb big and that's before GTA V.

I just want to link the one game to my ssd not my whole steam library.

Install the program I linked, its easy to use. You just move the game files out of the steamapps/common folder to anywhere on your SSD, then right click it and select "pick link source" go back to where you moved it from on your HD then right click somewhere in the folder and do "drop as... then select junction"

You don't have to.... you can make as many folders as you want and stick one game in. Make a folder on new drive, drag one game over and add it as a new location in steam settings and you are done, it still uses the old location to. No messing about with silly programs. Then next time steam installs a game it will ask you if you want to use new folder or old folder each time.

Witcher or anyone else...

Moved my GTA V game to my SSD using steam mover. I now have two full copies of the game, one in my mech HDD and the other in my SSD. Is it ok to delete the mech folder completely or do I need to keep it?

Thanks

one isn't a copy of the games files.

it's short cuts to every file you moved to the ssd which steam uses to find the files.

If you delete them steam can't find where the files are ;)
they should all be 0 byte files or close to 0 bytes
