How to make 3090FE quieter?

Well the AIO did work fine for me with my last build but like I said I had AIO on GPU as well so it wasn't too much of an issue. With the air cooled GPU I now have it could cause issues.

The new cards have much hotter running ram. They hit 110c.

VRM is also hotter on newer motherboards which is why x570 require active cooling.

What case are you using? I find lian li are really great for airflow. NZXT I had was terrible even cheap Corsair was far better.

I might go AIO for aesthetics but they aren't worth it otherwise

Looks tight and your aio isn't positioned optimally the pipes should be at the bottom not the top at the front. There is a YouTube video explaining this by one of the top YouTubers

The pipes wouldn't fit if it was the other way up, but it seems to work fine as it is. I'm sure there are augments for both orientations but if you Google image search it, they all have the pipes at the top:

Either way, it works as it is and doesn't actually fit the other way so there's not much I can do about it I don't even think the hoses are long enough to reach the bottom, they'd certainly be stretched especially now there is a giant 3090FE in there now, the pipes wouldn't be able to get around it.

To be fair I think it actually ran fairly quietly before I installed Afterburner so maybe it's Afterburners fan curve that made it louder? I seem to remember actually being surprised batbhow quiet it was at first but then suddenly at some point over a day or so it just got loud.

) Pretty interesting stuff. Gives you an idea of how quieter the card can be ran and what sort of performance decrease would be had. 3090 is a wicked card as it is so I wouldn't be too worried about dropping a few frames for a much quieter experience.

Nvidia cheaper out on terrible thermal pads and if you get a dud sometimes gaming is enough to put RAM temps through the roof causing the fans to spin up even when the GPU is fine.

Check your VRAM (memory)temperatures. This is exposed in GPU-Z and other monitoring programs. The fans are reacting to the VRAM speed, so that's why you hear it spin up to 1500+ RPM and get loud, when the GPU core is at 50 or 60DC. The 3090FE is a great cooler, but has terrible thermal pads out of the box.

My 3090FE was the same - I'd get over 100DC VRAM temperatures when gaming at 4K, which caused silly noise levels, while GPU sitting cold on 60DC.

I replaced my thermal pads & repasted GPU (followed this mostly, but used gelid extreme on GPU side and Thermalright odyssey on the backplate -

).

Result now is that my memory temps don't go above 85DC no matter what I do, and the card is 100% silent fan wise.

Before I got my card, I was reluctant to do this from a warranty perspective. After researching it thoroughly, I've found several examples where people in the UK have successfully RMA'd a card that's had it's pad changed without any issue, so felt safe doing this. Also was annoying me that such a great cooler design was let down by crappy pads.

Could you post or DM the links to the thermal pads you used. Also how many packs of each?
