I have just bought a template and the graphics are styled like that. I've also bought some photographs but want to keep with this theme.

I've had a look at effects and borders but I can't get it. It just looks like a 4 square curved border but i'm not very good at graphics work.

Also another question what is the best flash website editor out there or is it best to just use flash and place it all on the website?

Thanks :)

Presuming you're using Photoshop...

Quickest way to do that would be to create 4 rounded rectangles on a layer (Press U for the shape tool), align them as you want them, then in the layers palette, CTRL click that layer - all objects on the layer will be used to create a selection. Press CTRL+I to invert the selection, and then press ALT+BACKSPACE to fill :).

Thanks for the reply, tried it but I couldn't get it to work :(

In the folder it looks like there are some template squares the same size as those squares:

Is there anything I could do with that to make it easier?

cheers.

I'd use Illustrator for that, and make a compound path.

If you post the pictures I am sure someone will have a bash.

What you could do is open up Photoshop, put that template square on a new layer, then use the Magic Wand tool to select the 3 white patches (hold SHIFT to select multiple areas), and then delete them. If you then follow the selection-from-layer instructions I posted before, you should be good to go :)

Here's an example pic, if you two can have a go and if it looks similar to the 1st pic let me know exactly how you did it :) It doesn't matter if you cut bits of the pic out, this is just for testing :)

Thanks again.

Had a go at trying to re-create it. Quite tricky to get absolutely symmetrical. I would think a square photo would be easier to do (in the first example).

1. I switched on rulers, and then drew out guides along all 4 edges of the photo. I also had a crossing guide in the centre of the photo.

2. I then put guides 1 px outside the centre cross. That way, when the shape snaps to the guide you get the white lines, otherwise all you get is the centre diamond and edge pieces.

3. Then get the shape tool, with square rectangle toggled, path enabled and using a small radius of about 6-9 (this toggles how much corner edge you get). Draw a square in each quadrant. Right-click inside a square, and "Make Selection", then invert this, Ctrl-Shft-I, and fill with white on a new layer.

Wonder if there are any simpler methods...
