How to make my laptop a wifi spot for phone?

Does anyone have a clue? Usually I'd tether my phone to the laptop, but I need another way round (That'll work in windows 8). I've got a length of cable coming from router (far beyond wifi range) which goes into my pc, and I want to be able to connect my phone to wifi (generated from pc).

Any ideas would be warmly recieved!

I'm guessing you'll need some kind of hardware to achieve this. I know that certain motherboards ship with the required wifi hotspot (USB aerial, I think), so not impossible.

Your laptop needs a certain WIFI chip or you need a wifi card that supports it.
