How to make Windows boot faster?

You could download nLite or vLite and remove the rubbish from XP/Vista that you don't use/need. This is quite a drastic move as you'd have to reinstall Windows but removing stuff that Windows has to load up on a boot up should reduce the boot time a fair bit.

What are you using to get that figure? I'll download that prog, if its free and see what I get from my WD SATA2 250Gb disk.

I was transfering a file from one partition to the other, and it was going at 4.0MB/Sec.

Oh right. Might be influenced by RAM and RAM speed and other things. Thought you'd used HDTach or something to obtain a proper measure of transfer speed. (Hint hint!) ;)

Dont get why it is showing the buffer as 0kb

I dont know if I should be using the jumpers on the HDD tho.

It aint my ram, that is running at 4-4-4-15, 1000Mhz, showing speed as 4321MB/Sec from MemTest86 before boot.
