How to overclock my Netbook?

yeah, FM2010 has some pretty high specs and if you are like me and have like 60+ leagues loaded you will need some real horse power for it i only get like 1/2 a star with that and the fact i have custom database with like 270,000 players :)

its not a custom one, its just where you can pick small, medium or large
i went with custom and added SO many options that i have like 270,000 players :)

as for the game, what Ram and CPU speed do you have?
i think the game is more CPU hungry then RAM hungry as it has to create all the results for teams and everything

i have got a lvl10 patch that is VERY good - it adds upto level 10 in the english league and its great fun doing it with my local team (Blackfield, started lvl9) and i am 2 promotions away from the blue square premier :) check the SIgames forums, i might be able to find the link for it if interested :)

You need to find out the PLL (clock generator) in your system by opening up the netbook and looking for it on the mainboard. Once you know this you can see if it's supported by SetFSB or CPUCool. If it's not you can ask Wolfram @ CPUCool to support your PLL, as unfortunately the creator of SetFSB no longer updates SetFSB.

Sometimes PLL's are TME (trusted mode enable) which means that no overclocking is allowed. If this is the case, then a hardware pin mod is required (i.e. you physically need to cut a specific pin coming from the PLL and re-route to a GND terminal). It's not for the faint-hearted.

I have the 311c HP netbook with Atom 270. I have it overclocked running at 2.3ghz.

It has turned this little beauty into a real nice machine. Really has turned it around. Defo worth spending the time to overclock your atom.

rpg-Were abouts should i be looking?
Deusx-How did you overclock it?
Kellaway-oh right yeh i play on 'Large' but with not many leagues....I have seen that patch but i just dont have the patience to start in lvl 10 lol

Well, this is an example of a ICS clock generator (used on the Alienware M11x):

Beside your PLL you should find a crystal that has 14.3MHz printed on top. Then you know the PLL will be nearby. More info can be found here. Alternatively, you might be able to find the PLL from another owner on a laptop forum, if they've opened up your specific model to check already.

Some small media centres have an option to OC the processor. I've read a few reviews of ones that have an option to go up to 2.1ghz, and the gain is fairly decent if you need to do light encoding tasks or whatever. It's worth looking into anyway, as it really doesn't make the processor that much noisier :)

Ive had a little play with setFSB and my NC10 is currently running stable at 1739.7MHz. I havent gone as far as getting a white screen yet.
