How to permanently set VLC to play all video files?

right click the video you want to watch, select open with, and then choose select default player, you should see VLC in the list, then theres a box at the bottom which says 'Always use this programme for video etc' click that and click save.

you should then see the VLC cone in the corner of your videos.

That sets it for an individual file but not globally.

Find a quicktime file and control click it. Select get info, where it says open with change that to VLC and then click change all

It doesnt.

I did mine that way and VLC is now my default player for everything.

Like Oxy, I have also never had any luck with what MiNxYyY said. That's such a Windows thing to do

Thanks Oxy for the tip... I can finally not have to always right click my files to open them in VLC lol
