How to properly install GPU drivers

Shall I just run the .exe file and install the new driver or do I need to uninstall the previous driver first? if so, what app shall I use to remove the old driver?

Run the exe and it'll upgrade it. No point uninstalling them in my opinion unless they are casuing the system to error and you can't upgrade them.

i just install over the top
in the bad old days years ago it was best to uninstall the old ones first
but these day the installers are better written so i dont see the need

I used to be quite anal about it and remove current driver, boot into safe mode then install the new driver. Now I just overwrite the current one and haven't had any issues.

Uninstalling the old set hasn't been needed for years now.
