Hi, i have 3 samsung F3's 1TB and im currentley using just 1 and just have windows installed on there.
now i want to raid0 the 2 other drives and use this for all my games etc. i will be backing this up by the way with a an external hdd.

so i want to keep the 1 drive seperate and run 2 in raid0 is this possible?
if so how?
mobo is a asus p8p67 pro and im running windows 7

:)

Question is why?

The F3 are lightening fast and RAID-0 (imo) offer no real benefits over single disks.

However, should you wish to set up raid, then select RAID in your BIOS, save and restart. During POST hit CTRL-I for RAID set-up screen. This is where you set up the the appropriate RAID configuration, RAID-0, block size etc.. Once done, press the save key.. It will tell you that the RAID has been created and the two disks are treated as a normal single array. Load windows as normal.

Windows 7 shouldn't require drivers but other versions may require you to have drivers handy during OS installation.

ok i tried this but when loading windows it brefiely shows a bluescreen of death. and wont load in to windows with it set in raid mode.
is this because the single drive were windows is installed is not in raid?

In that case you'll need to load the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) Drivers during Windows Install:

You need the .zip version.. not the .exe . make sure also you select either 64 bit (f6flpy-x64_10.5.0.1027.zip) or 32 bit version (f6flpy-x86_10.5.0.1027.zip) depending on what version you are installing.

Download and unzip on to a USB stick or CD.

Then during Windows 7 install, on the screen where it asks about drives, click on the load drivers button and point to your download.

Hope that helps.

im not sure you understand what im trying to do here.

i dont want to install windows on the raid0 drives.
i want to keep my current windows installation on 1 drive

and raid0 2 seperate drives just for data.

gotcha.. However, this is not something I've tried. Again why would you want to do this?

Ok so you have 3 drives.. makes no difference as you can select which dives go into the raid. Once the raid is created, then you'll see effectively only two drives. One of which is raid, the other is just a normal single disk.. Just select which one will host the OS.

In your case, once the raid is created, you just need to point the BIOS to boot from the single disk which already has the OS loaded. I would detach the single disk during RAID creation and add it later. However, you'll still need the raid drivers and as i said, it's not something I've done.

As AH has asked already, why do you want to RAID0 on data drives? You'll gain no significant benefit by doing so and you'll increase the chance of losing data (I know youll have a backup but what about recent data you haven't managed to back up yet).
