Hi

How do i take out a standard Ford headunit?
It's a CD player but is 1 1/2 DIN size.
I can see 2 holes on each side near the edge. I guess i'll need to buy some removal keys but is there anyway i can remove it without them ? I dont want to pay Halford prices for 2 pieces of bent metal that i'll only use for about 10 seconds.

I was thinking maybe using a coat hanger but i dont want to damage the headunit.
Could someone post a method that does work please!

Thanks

Push something like 4 nails or as said a coat hanger into all four. This should then release it.

You can buy the correct tools but most things that fit down the holes will work.

Just use a pointed implement or go to a ford dealer as they'll tend to just pop it out for you, they did it for me last week when I went in.

I'll try the coat hanger idea first.
If it doesnt work then i'll try going down to Ford, they are being arsey about it i'll try a local car audio shop.
My last resort will be Halfords.

Biros plus one shredded finger eventually did the trick for me.

Here.

One side (left of photo) the catch that is depressed by inserting the rods had snapped and bent all up inside. I had to reach up inside with a finger and push it in as I pulled the radio out. Ouch.

It's sat on my desk next to me now though. Victory is mine!
