Ive brought some TIM cleaner, and tried some carb cleaner but it doesnt even soften the TIM thats installed on my A8N-SLI-Premium's Southbridge cooler. Its all over the microchip too so i cant just remount it and hope for the best :(

Alcahol such as ethanol, give it a gentle scrub, with a small amount of lquid and let it soak for a bit.

Rinse and repeat, but be gentle.

You need a citrus degreaser like Akasa or Arctic Silver, let it soak for 5 minutes, then rub off with a cotton bud

I bought some stuff off the bay a while ago.
I havent got it with me so nopt sure what its called exactly but the guys who make artic silver make it. Need it for an Xbox me and my mate were repairing, It comes in 2 bottles, one to remove/soften the TIM and one to clean the HS/chip afterwards.
Nothing would touch the stuff on the xbox but it wasnt rock hard.

Did you apply the TIM to this chip or is it a 2nd hand board?
Has someone applied that nasty stuff that basicly welds the hs to the chip and is stupidly difficult to remove (cant remember the name right now)

[EDIT] the remover is articlean OCUk sell it

As stulid says, get the hairdrier on that.
Lightly scratch it with fingernails afterwards then use generic cleaner/alcohol, your nails will be dirty for an age but no-one cares about that.

Remember similar pain removing the gunk they'd applied on an old m2a-mvp. That FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU rage type guy hadn't been invented then but... He was needed.
