Hey guys and girls...

How can I convert my blurays disks to avi / mp4 or mkv where i can convert it? I want to put the movies on my nas to save keep getting the disks out... I tryed makeMKV but theres some kind of protection on the disk? do i need another software to get around this?

MakeMKV, i use it for lots of DVDs and BluRays - if its not working on a specific disc, then try updating to the newest version.

DVDFab had lots of issues with discs and it isn't free.

Makemkv here - although occassionally you get a dodgy rip and have to use something else (5 in about 500 rips roughly)

Ive found makemkv the fastest over about 10 rips (pic and sound quality were equal) - although my comparison was done about a year ago now so this could have changed by now

Been using MakeMKV for all my movies, had one or 2 issues, some were voice verses lip movement and can't rip James Bond Goldeneye for love or money!

I've been having a bit of a play with MakeMKV but I can't decide on what settings to use.

What settings have people been using? (I imagine this going to be a personal preference, quality vs size, etc but thought I'd ask)

It doesn't matter on the software if you're copying bit-to-bit?

I was just making people aware if they didnt realise - s - however time wise /rip makes a huge difference :)

Pedant mode

or 1 out of 100 / 1% :p

/pedant

Ok smart ass :):)

Although to be fair considering the amount of discs I have, its quite possible people could have 2 - 300 disks and have no issues at all lol

makemkv I use it for dvd's. very quick

Is there a way to make the end mkv file smaller using this?
I ripped american psycho, an old dvd for a 100minute film and the eventual file with all the extras removed was around 4.75Gig, can this be changed and made smaller in the original program?
Or should I use something else?
