im doing some stess testing to try and find out what my max temps are and im using prime 95

its doing a continuous blend test at the moment and im monitoring the temps and i know this sounds stupid but the temps seem too low.

task manager shows cpu usage is 100% but my temps are around 42

cooler is a megahalems with 2 140mm akasa apaches

here is a shot of whats happening

is the test running correctly? sorry for the noob post :D

Started a blend test about an hour before you. Mine is topping 59 c on hottest cores, testing 4.4 GHz on a 3570k with a phanteks phtc14pe. Have you got round off checking enabled in the advanced menu?

Use something like Coretemp or Realtemp to measure the CPU temperature, not sure what AIsuite actually uses, the sensors embedded in the chip or something else.

im going to leave it to run for a while but it wont go over 47c so im happy with the temps although im still not convinced prime is really working the cpu.

ive now ticked round off in the advanced section so i will see if this makes some difference

it will actually keep it well under 60 if i have the apaches at 100% but that defeats the point of buying them for silence. even with them at half speed it stays at around 62 on the highest core and is near silent, in game its silent so im happy with the system

Would it not be better to oc purely on the multiplyer instead of introducing a higher bclk for the oc your aiming at?

You're ok adding a few MHz to the BCLK for testing overclocks, the 100MHz jump is quite big if you just use the multiplier, so you could end up introducing more than one instability at a time, so it can lead to more head scratching.

You should also check windows event viewer > windows logs > system, for the presence of whea-logger warnings as that would also indicate how stable the oc is.

Try bclk @ 100 and multiplyer at 43 as your almost on 4.3, see how temps are, maybe try 4.4 then. Depending what your ram is on you may be able to up that too.

16gb of kingston ram @ 1600mhz 1.65v

its on the limit of safe sandybridge ram voltage

im at 100mhz bclk and multi set to 43 and ive been running prime plend for about 50mins now and its stable so far

temps are staying under 65c ive set a custome fan profile so they stay under 70c im onto
