Hi,
still need answers about getting my ram to run at 800 and not what it runs at right now.
My cpu is an Athlon X2 64 5200+ (2.6GHz multi is 13x)so it cannot access memory at 800 Mhz, only up to 742(741 right now).
So like I asked, can I do anything to get it to access memory at 800 Mhz instead of 742????
Motherboard is Abit KN9 Ultra
Settings for ram(type?)are DDR2-400, 533, 667, 800.
Right now in the bios the ram is set to 4-4-4-12 2T
Bios info shows 800 4-4-4-12
So in theory that means the ram should be running at 800MHz but it is not as the cpu is a 2.6 on a 13x multi.
So instead of 400x2=800 it runs at 371x2=742.
Have no idea how to change the divider on this board as the bios does not tell you much.

What you've described is a common problem with that particular processor, you could try lowering the multi and raising the fsb if you want to make full use of your RAM.

Hi,

Will_3rd has got the right idea, all of AMD's Athlon processors with an odd multiplier have this problem.
I'd recommend trying 220x12, this will give you a Core speed of 2640MHz and it's not a dramatic increase in FSB so the chipset you're using shouldn't have a problem coping with it.

Just tried that with ram set to 4-4-4-12 2T and lockups/crash/boot loops....
