How to secure a bike without an anchor point ?

whilst your neighbours will likely be nice people etc.. its not them you need to worry about - don't expect the comunal areas - foyer, corridor etc.. to be a secure place.

I live in an apartment with decent, professional neighbors too, we've got a security guard who patrols etc.. I wouldn't leave a bike in the corridor/entrance etc... non residents will pass through too - mostly people delivering packages.

Over the course of the year you might well have had a few hundred deliveries to the building - it only takes one dodgy self employed delivery driver with his own van parked outside.. and your bike is gone.

I'd contact the management company (or land lord if you don't own it) and request that they fit an anchor point(s) or even a bike rack/shed or some facility for residents to store bikes securely.

A plant pot filled with concrete with a metal loop set into it is a good solution. We have large metal planters at our flats for the same purpose.

You'd need to check your insurance for that area though, as above. It's probably simpler for you to just maintain it in a clean state (as you should anyway :p) and to take it upstairs when not being used.

Treat it like you would the fairer sex .... wash and hump.

This. I mean clean your bike FFS. I treat mine better than the wife (and to be fair she treats her bikes better than me) :D

Definitely keep it in your apartment, insurance companies are pretty stingy when it comes to bike theft, and almost definitely wouldn't pay out for it.

I've heard stories of people not getting payouts for bikes stolen from locked sheds because the bikes weren't attached to anything inside the shed
