I'm tempted to upgrade to a 77" but I'm not sure how I would shift my current TV.

I have a 65" Samsung S95B which obviously takes up a lot of space so I would need to sell it pretty fast. The problem with this is that due to the size it would likely need to be local, so FB market place etc. But people on these places will only see it as a 65" TV and compare it to the fact they can grab a cheap 65" TV from Tesco for under £400. How do I sell it to get the value it's actually worth and what couriers are happy to accept TVs? I have the original box and packing up in the loft, so securely packaging it would not be a problem. I just don't want to order the new one without knowing of a sure way I can shift this one without having to pretty much give it away.

Avforums classifieds

This, but it's still quite difficult getting a buyer on there for TVs. I've just had a look and there's very little or no replies to a lot of threads.

Someone listed the 55-inch version of the OPs TV for £750 on Saturday and there's no interest yet.

Yeah i don't think anything like this particularly sells quick unless it's priced VERY well really. You've either got to have a hugely in demand model or be lucky to have a buyer locally as shipping costs especially make things quite prohibitive.

Facebook Marketplace? Collection only in large car with fold down back seats or van required stated on ad? Also maybe measure the box and put the dims on there as well?

I don't think TVs hold their values particularly well. Especially if it's over a year old and out of warranty (or if the longer 5 year warranties aren't transferable) then it could be a costly gamble.

Also I would imagine that most people wanting a high-end TV would normally look to buy new.

I stuck my 85" on the MM, eBay and Gumtree. Ended up giving it to mate due to all the imbeciles expecting it for nothing and asking for delivery. You may have better luck :D

This is the issue, I accept I'll probably only be able to just clear about £500 for it, because any more than that and you're taking a risk with something 2nd hand.
I just know trying to sell it locally will be people offering half that and expecting it to fit in their Corsa

I'll probably stick it on avforums and maybe the MM here and just hope

If you're still in Gloucester, it shouldn't be too hard to get £500 for it; quite a few towns and cities nearby where people will be happy to travel to pick it up for that price.

When i bought my new sony 65" A95K OLED for the bedroom a few years ago i put the older sony 65" AF9 OLED which was in the bedroom in the living room (Which then replaced the 50" pioneer plasma TV)

Sometimes it better to just keep it and move it to another room to upgrade the TV in that room ;) unless you have no rooms left that can fit a 65"

Have you tried friends and family?

I'm selling it to somebody at work for £500

He owns a van so will probably be coming with me to Richer Sounds first and helping me get my new TV home. Then he can help me take down his bargain of the year and carefully box it up before helping install my new one lol :D

Nice result, especially as he's helping with a van and installation (that's gotta be worth taking a small hit on the price for).

Workplace classified/notice boards can be fun for this sort of thing, people used to sell their cars to others in the company at one old workplace. Though a friend at a bank sent a funny one on WhatsApp, some director at his place had put his yacht in a for sale advert on a noticeboard near the trading floor! :D

Congrats. It is frustrating when you have something of value, but realising that value is a massive ball ache. Glad it worked out.

Wish I had a colleague like you!
