How to send out a text to loads of contacts on iPhone?

If I compose a new one and go to add recipients I have to hit '+' then search, then select the contact for each person. I can't just tap each contact I want as I scroll through the phone book and hit done when I'm finished.

Is there a way of making a group instead that I can send a mass text to on the iPhone?

Or you can use an app, there will be loads out there that can create groups and send texts to them.
I don't know any personally but I'm sure some1 will post with knowledge of one

If you know who you want to send it to, goto the 'to' box and start typing there name till you get the one you want. I can normally select 8 or so people pretty quickly this way.

Although, as others have said, there's probably an app for it.
