Hi all,

I am having a bit of trouble with VPN's. What I am trying to achieve, is have a VPN into a remote network, and be able to use all the resources as if I was sat plugged directly into it - i.e., access shared drives, ping other computers, connect to other computers by name etc.

However, I am finding that when I connect, I am tied into the recieving PC, and cannot ping anything else, or access shares etc. I have researched on Google, and this perhaps points to something to do with WINS servers.

Could someone with more experience tell me how they setup VPN's to allow you to do the bits I describe above?

Well, the firewall is just provided by the (Netgear) router, so I have basically just opened the ports and let it pass through. I think it must be to do with how the recieving VPN is configured, as if I SSH onto the Linux server there, I can ping away.
