How to setup my HDD's

I've recently picked-up 4 SATA 320GB, and still have my 2 SATA 400GB, but only 4 available SATA connections on my Motherboard, and an external IDE 200GB, and looking to achieve the following:

Having recently lost a good chunk of data to a faulty HDD, not ever been in the habit of backing-up :rolleyes:, has made me consider safer options.

I'd ideally like a solution where if I lost my system HDD, I could recover it in it's entirety, as it takes me ages to setup my OS and application software to my liking, also, how best to secure my data against loss, with 50% being of great importance, and the rest not as serious?

On another note, would I be able to export my OS and application software, including it's settings, to an inferior PC, i.e. from a Socket 939 to a Socket A, if yes how?

Cheers.

It's an Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe, off the Asus site;
The nForce4 chipset incorporated four Serial ATA connectors with high performance RAID functions in RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5 and JBOD. The Silicon Image controller provides another two Serial ATA connectors for RAID 0 and 1 functions. This motherboard is the ideal solution to enhance hard disk performance and data back up protection without the cost of add-on cards.
