Hey guys

I have an original razer mamba mouse and wanted to get more into pc games recently.

The issue i always have is crazy mouse sensitivity.

Is there a guide or can anyone help me with the sort of settings i should be working with and whats more optimal?

Having a real hard time leading to me just going back to consoles!

Appreciate any help!

Disable any mouse accel (untick enhanced pointer precision in control panel)

Set windows pointer speed to 6/11

For fps games, lower sensitivity is more accurate. If you've only ever used crazy high sensitivity where a 1cm wrist movement makes your character do a 360, then it's going to be hard to get used to lowering it. But I would definitely recommend you do, if you want to have good aim.

I switched to 30cm for a 360 turn in TF2 and my aim improvement tenfold after I got used to having to move my arm around. So I'd say try setting your games to the 1.0 mouse sens and adjusting your DPI until you find something you like. Remember the lower the better.

for source games like cs:go, trying something like dpi of 800, and in game sens of 1.4ish or lower. that will pretty much have you in the right direction.

Also depends on what surface you're using your mouse on. Since I switched to a very slippery hard mat from a fairly slippery soft mat years ago, 6cm to 360 degrees with 3200dpi has been brilliant for me, but I like to rest my wrist on a wrist-rest and only move my hand as apposed to my whole arm. I just found this good for lowering the amount of times the cable would snag on something too. My mat is fairly small though my old soft mat was much larger. I'm a demon with a shotgun or fast submachine gun/bullpup up close with these settings :)

Is is quite important to make sure you have exactly the same mouse movement distance in each game you play. Once you get your practise in, the movement you need to turn to the exact spot you suspect you are being shot at from becomes instinctive, and to do a 180 turn and bring your scope up dead on someones head, when you pull it off is very rewarding indeed. If you like sniping too, to see someone in the far distance and pull up your scope and land a headshot in one swift smooth motion is also going to bring a smile to your face, but again you need lots of practise with the same settings in all your games.

I disagree with using low dpi settings. I like high dpi on the mouse, and lower the sensitivity in game. Not sure about CS games, but there have been one or two games where I've had to lower my mouse dpi because the in game sensitivity wouldn't go low enough. I suppose if you were wanting to use 30cm for 360 degrees as h2F Scott suggests then you would need to drop the dpi for quite a few more games though.

I used to play CoD competitively and found a high sensitivity was great for twitchy style play (e.g. shotgunning, quickscoping etc.).
Ive recently adopted the low sensitivity approach and it definitely has improved my accuracy.

Its really more about what sort of play style you play in my opinion. You can't go wrong with a low sensitivity though. But if youre finding that youre constantly needing to move your hand too far, then up the sensitivity. Start low, and go up until you find that sweet spot for yourself.

Also take the advice above, turn off mouse acceleration and set the windows mouse sensitivity to half.

Low low low. You want to be that guy raking the mouse back and forth across the desk like a mad man. Brb acquiring all kinds of headshots.

Depends a bit on your play style - ultra low will get you killed a lot if you tend to run and gun.

Also finding a mouse that suits you counts for a lot, personally I don't put much stock in lasers and prefer a high end optical sensor such as the one found on the zowie fk, markc's mouse fix as posted about above is pretty much essential on windows 7 onwards.
