How to setup the frequency in idle?

Hi,

I have managed to successfully oc an i5-3570k to 4,2GHz by just multiplying by 42. However while surfing, the core temp program shows the multiplier varying from 30 to 37 and never reaching the idle frequency of 1600 (16x). Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

sounds ok. Surfing is not 100% idle. Could be worth opening up something like OCCT to graph CPU usage and vcore versus CPU clock speed.

Idle frequency is fine and is going down to 1600. I was using wrong software to measure the frequency.
