how to sooth sunburn !

I used to live close to the sea in Sub tropical Queensland in Australia for a few years as a lad. I regularly used to get terrible head to toe sunburn from just a short session in the sea.

My mother used to treat the burning and stinging by applying vinegar.

Not sure whether it actually worked but it sure kept the mosquitos away :)

Basically you've killed your top layer of skin and its going to flake off and regrow. You need pain relief for the injury, moisturizer for keeping the dead skin from drying out and cracking and itching.

The cosmetics industry no doubt has many highly priced items to help you out but your local pharmacist can probably advise something cheap and cheerful which will do the job.

When I get bad sun burn I take a cool bath - staying in until my finger tips go wrinkly. That way my skin gets a thorough hydrating. Then on with the aftersun.

You sound like an old woman. He just said he didn't know it was gonna be sunny.

Not sunny doesn't mean you can't get burnt. Especially if he's a spf50+ user, if its summer months you can get burned while out in the rain. Its darker but light is still getting through. I tend not to burn, or I never used to when I was younger, never seem to get out in the sun much in summer lately so no idea if i still tan well or burn like a fool.

But its easy to be prepared, if you have very easily burnable skin put on sun tan lotion ANYTIME you will be outside for more than 15-30mins, rain, sunshine, snow, night time you can probably get away with it.

cheers everyone :)

if i hadnt have gone out sunday (i sunbathed on sat for an hour in the morning) id be a lovely golden brown glow now. Stupid touring cars xD

I cant get to any shops till after work so its just lots of moisturiser till then and sticking it out :(
