how to speed up a web site

used lr with new plug in, can it be speeded up !!!,, once cached its ok just the first 8-10 seconds, can it have a speed up or is it just flash/lightroom

just some various pics i like the postcard way and more so the way it deals them out if you refresh

Only thing I can think of is the pictures might be too big. What is the size (Kb not pixels :)) of the pictures your hosting ?
 
I've just given this site layout a quick try and it loads over 100 pictures in about 10 seconds so its gotta be the size of your pictures. Make sure both the pictures and the thumbnails are optimized for web viewing in your favorite image editing programme
 
There is (was) a mod_gzip module that you could install into apache that would zip and unzip the web traffic on the fly and transparent to the user which speeds things up.

Pictures compress pretty well so it is a possibility if it is still around.
 
ok thanx all there are only 24 odd pics so with thumbnails 48, there all below 100kb and thumbs a lot smaller

I think its just lr if I do samev gallery in simplviewer with same pics its much faster,

just wanted to speed the postcard format up.
