How to stop YouTube from asking me to sign in

Even signed in i still get constant bloody annoying pop ups asking me if I want to sign up to YouTube premium. They won’t take no for an answer!

Yeah you stick it to 'em, fight the system!

Seriously though, haver you tried using a popup blocker? most browsers have one built in. I know Edge does, but chances are you dont use that ....

Has anyone suggested that the best way to stop YouTube asking you to sign in, is to actually sign in?

Oh wait, everyone (including me).

Sign in. I guarantee it'll never ask you to sign in again.

Thanks for the obvious answer that I totally hadn’t thought of myself!

At least some people have been slightly more helpful. I will try some of the suggested adblocker scripts and settings.

Worth hunting down which rule is preventing you blocking the container. But i just use the below in uBlock Origin, which seems to work -
Code:
www.youtube.com##ytd-popup-container.ytd-app.style-scope

P.s - For the future, post in sub-forums as it'll save the usual GD bashing you get from the dribblers.

It’s just bad design.

Yup but unfortunately it appears to be the new "thing" as i've seen a lot of sites go that way of forcing you to sign-in, even if you're just browsing which ultimately has made me purchase from elsewhere.

"Nag" after X many days have elapsed would be a far better solution.

Get an adblocker, I use 2. I don't have any problems with pop ups.

Recently Firefox started deleting cookies after 24 hours because Mozilla added a new feature, so it kept asking me to sign in daily to sites.

I told it not to delete the history and haven't been asked to sign in again since.

In Ublock Origin options just enable all annoyance filters and all the privacy filters and all the ad filters. No more annoying prompts to sign in and all other annoyances, Youtube videos won't play automatically which is far better than jumping through loops everytime. Works with Adgaurd Adblocker too, just remember to go into details in Adgaurd and enable all filters, check manual filters updates now and again, Adgaurd manual filter updates are at the top in the filter section.

Bingo, this has worked for me. I've added the additional annoyances filters and I don't get prompted anymore.

I've got a solution for you OP that no-one has mentioned yet...

Don't use it! Find another platform to watch whatever it is you're watching.

One of the best features of YouTube is that you subscribe to content that you enjoy, content creators that you like to watch. So when you SIGN IN, they are at the forefront of the app/web page, and then you don't get a bunch of crap that you have no interest in. It saves time searching, it saves time scrolling.

Who has time to click no, then search for it every time?

Create a single fake email address call [email protected] just for this if you had to, it saves so much more time than clicking no and searching for things every single time.

I’m not interested in subscribing to content or content creators. I’m also not interested in being ‘recommended’ content, that’s precisely why I don’t want to sign in.

This sentence is still valid.

It’s fine, I’ll just try and find a way to block the pop up entirely. I’m not interested in being forced to do things a certain way.

In the last couple of years YouTube seems to have gone mad with adverts and this sign in business is also becoming more common.
