How to take Light Trails

That ones Fantastic!... Freaky and quite scary 'Ghost Bus' But Fantastic!!... :)

Thanks. It was my entry for the 'Motion' competition last month. To get the front of the bus, I had to use second-curtain flash. Poor old bus driver... :p

If that's where I think it is (near the museum?), I took some from that flyover bridge in your top pic last week:

However after reading all of the advice in this thread i think i'll have to go back and attempt to improve on them ;)

Haha cool. I was driving past there about an hour ago thinking "Hmmm standing on that bridge and I could get some good long exposures." I was right :D Nice pics mate.

Another one agreeing that just star trails // headlights etc. are a bit boring by themselves - much like close cropped moon shots.

I went out to shoot star trails, but cloud coming over meant this is what I got - foreground not as lit as I'd like, but would have been better under a clear sky :

All these trails made me want to go and have a try! Not as good as others only started taking pictures since august!, i left a polarizing filter on the lens and gained a strange effect!

So true. I love the traffic light. That for me is the focus of the picture with the light trails rounding out the picture for me if that makes sense?

I usually go out alone, although I find photography like this is more fun if you go with someone else.

Taken nearly 4 years ago with my A70. I sold the first at a charity auction and got £100. It went for a lot more as the company took a cut and some went to charity.

are you a pro photographer?
as I'm in the light trails thread how do you do them with a P&S ?
is there any good sites for info on how to take a good picture?

As long as the P&S has manual controls so you can set the shutter speed to say 15 seconds then you can take the picture. Yes I am a pro photographer, I wasn't when I took those two shots though. Just doing it for the love of it :D
