How to tell how full HDD in terminal?

TY, I think I fudged my debian server as one of my HDD was 100% full. Sabnzbd, mediatomb and samba all stopped working lol.

Data was safe and it didn't matter as I needed to update the HW anyway.

Now using arch in a non-gui server, is this wise?

As long as it isn't a mission-critical production server, then its both wise & hardcore ;) It just makes you learn faster when things go wrong :p

Arch has a sort of stable/safe kernel for servers as well: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/core/i686/kernel26-lts/ might be worth checking out.

There is also a special ArchServer project: http://www.archserver.org/ this looks appealing but I haven't had a chance to fire it up. At the very least it would offer increased stability :)

If it is for server use, then you obviously have to expect that bleeding edge will give you headaches now and again :) *the obligatory Debian for servers comment :p*

Doing it on three, having no issues. :)

My arch desktop hasn't fell over yet either lol.

The server is only running sabnzbd, mediatomb, NFS, samba, transmission-cli. So not much to go wrong is there?

Nope. Checking Arch-related news before updating is always a good idea, by the way. Then you won't get stung like I did with my desktop >.<
