No, I don't get this wrong, and I don't think that this article describes a particularly difficult use case of an apostrophe I learned this in school.

My post was aimed at anyone reading my post, not necessarily you as the OP

My experience has shown me that most people do get it wrong, certainly most on the internet do.

I agree that it is of elementary simplicity, and I also learned it in school at an early age. Yet most get it wrong nonetheless.

There is also a difference between idiots and people who can't be assed.

So there is. But when someone makes an error which involves *adding* an erroneous apostrophe where none is needed at all, clearly it involves more effort to get it wrong than it would to get it right.

Theres also a difference between idiots and people who can't be assed.

Because I feel strongly about the rapidly declining literacy of the majority of the public, as do lots of OcUKers (you'll see people correcting or mocking people in a lot of threads)

(and fyi - "a lot" isn't a word, it is "there's" and I'd really rather hear "arsed" than "assed", unless you are a yank )

Goodness, I forgot about this. I sometimes wonder how the heck people can find that backtick - I struggle even on a PC keyboard, let alone on the Mac which I am using now.

I wish the only thing I had to worry about in my life was how other people use an apostrophe.
