I hardly ever go to the cinema, but want to see The Hobbit on the big screen.

Trouble is, it's not like the old days where you rolled up, bought a ticket and sat down. now there seems to be 2D, 3D, HFR3D (whatever that is) and IMAX.

Utterly confused. How would you see it?

If you want the best experience go for 2D about 1-2 weeks after it comes out. You'll be in a nice almost empty room and you won't have to wear any stupid glasses and you can spread out and enjoy yourself.

Tempted by the HFR3D, like avatar they will put a bit of effort into this (The medium not the movie understand) just to sell the medium so it may be the one good offering we get in it, easiest thing to do is see it in 2D and HFR3D.

Win Win!

Agreed, nice to see new developments and see if they are worth it, invariably not though :(

Last surprising tech for me was DBOX - actually liked it, though needs to be a suitable movie!

Bah just noticed Cineworld seems to be only showing it in HFR 3D on Thursday only at selected cinemas and obviously selected screens :/

I've booked to try the HFR 3D this time - purely just to try it.

I've opted against 3D for the last year in the cinema, purely as most of the releases haven't been optimised for 3D and it shows.

The last decent 3d production I saw was Tron - it really worked there.

Anyways.... Hobbit on Fri - looking forward to it - although the buzz doesn't seem anywhere near the LOTR levels.

For the hobbit.

2D, why ruin it with the likes of headaches and stupid glasses. For gandalfs staff to come out of the screen once...

I'm watching it in 2D on Friday, literally can't wait.

I was tempted to swap the order, but I preferred the Yoda vibe instead. Thought I kept it classy :D

Am I sad that Im considering trying to make the Hobbit on Thursday on my own - really want to see HFR as Id like to see how they remove the 'artificalness'/'super-lifelike' vibe Ive seen from other attempts at high frame video

At home.

I'm sick of paying silly money to watch a movie at the cinema and have to sit in a freezing auditorium, with overly loud volume, idiots on mobile phones, talking, chewing loudly, kicking the back of my seat, asking me to get up every 2 mins etc.

And no, I don't mean illegal download.

I'll wait for the Blu-Ray.

Does that really happen at your cinema? I seriously can't remember the last time I even had to get up and let someone go past during a film, I've rarely if ever heard a mobile go off after the trailers and certainly never had my seat kicked for the duration!

Either you are going to cinema in the ghetto or Sheffield is some sort of up market chav free zone!

2D I personally do not welcome the 3D shennanigans everytime I've gone to see 3D I've come out feeling like I've just had a strobe light flashing directly at my face for 2 hours.
