How to watch The Hobbit

LOL!

I'd imagine you'd need either a 12 pack of redbull or at least access to an expresso machine to get through it!

They do say they provide free tea and coffee throughout so that's covered but even so I couldn't do it - sitting through one full LoTR film would be more than enough let alone all of them!

Is it the extended versions they are showing or just the original cinema releases?

Will be the theatre cuts, actually sat through all the extended cuts the other day at home, I say sat, more like lay down and slept through most of the second one.

I'm not seeing it in HFR.
I usually do go 3d imax on a big film but 48 is putting me off.
Of the demos I've watched the general films seems too fluid and unnatural.. Which sounds odd I know, I don't quite understand it
The panning scenes make me feel almost travel sick.
It's too much money to chance having to walk out.
Note.. I can watch any normal 3d film active or passive without issue

2d normal screen for me

Also only reason I'm going is cause I have free tickets, I don't think it will be that exciting. I adore 3d but think it's only for Actiin/scifi/sfx films

I've sat through the extended editions at least 3 times now, other than getting food and repositioning myself every half hour I can happily devote the entire day to it.

It almost feels like an investment doing it like that as all my favourite scenes are in RotK, but its the only way I watch the trilogy now.

it would be interesting to do a poll after this is out on what people thought of the HFR

Personally, I'm going to watch it how the Director intended it to be watched and will take it from there whether I go for another viewing or not!

Anyone know if Cineworld is doing 3D HFR outside of tomorrow? Sent them an email at the start of the week but no answer - cant make it tomorrow but really wanted to see what HFR did to 3D...

Cineworld Luton doesn't seem to be showing the HFR version at all. If you go to their Hobbit booking page there is a link for their HFR cinemas and showtimes:

No worries mate, enjoy! Can't wait to see people's feedback. :)

No way, just no way.

Tried to do this with Star Wars once - well, IV, V and VI. By the start of Return of the Jedi I wanted to kill myself.

Wuss. :p

For the release of EP3 I watched EP1, 2 and the clone wars movie at home, midnight showing of EP3, then straight home for episode 4, 5 and 6. :D

Then slept....

As for The Hobbit, if I watch it, it'll be in 2d. The sooner that 3d dies again the better.

won't be dying anytime soon so don't hold your breath.... :D

I've deciced not to risk nausea and will be watching in 3d 24fps.
If i love it, as i think i will, i'll go again to watch the 44fps. But don't want my first experience of the movie being detracted by tech that i'm not used to.
Took me a while to get used to blu-ray quality over dvd, so will play this one a little safe.
3d deffo though.

I have decided to see this at the cinema in hfr3d. I haven't been for a fair few years and have never seen a 3d film. I raged last time at the cinema due to people eating, talking and mobile phone beeps and rings.
I hope this doesn't happen as I booked the Odeon lounge tickets so hopefully people actually want to watch the film in that section of the cinema.
