When i bought my car the guy took his speakers and sub out but left his amp in.

Recently i got a new set of speakers but i think the reason that they keep cutting out is that they dont have enough power so i need to figure out how to wire this amp up.

On one side of it it his

"Writing above Points to R- and L+ and Says bridged"

R+ R- L- L+ GND RMT +12V

On the other side is 2 Ports that say "Low Imput".

From the GND leads to a ground.
The +12v Leads to the postitive side on my car battery.
The two low imput leads all the way to the back of my car sterio
The RMT follows the leads that goes to the back of my sterio but i dont know where it ends.

But im not sure how to wire it up correctly so it powers my speakers.

Thanks in Advance
Chris.

The RMT wire is the remote wire which connects to your HU in order to turn the Amplifier on with the HU. You connect your speakers to the +/- terminals, i.e right speaker connects to the RL +/- connection.

The 'Low Input' connection is usually for the line level phono connection from your HU. 'Bridged' connections are used for subwoofers to double the voltage/current available for the sub.

Please explain what you mean by 'cutting out'?

Well after i installed a new set of speakers when driving along all the speakers will just randomly go quiet, no sound from them at all.

So i was talking to a friend he said it might be that i aint got enough power to power the new components.

Do i just wire the back speakers to it or the right and left?

And do i Connect my speakes to the + and - bits then where? How do i connect the amp to the Head Unit, is that done through the low voltage cables?

It depends on what head unit you have to begin with, as to use the low level inputs that are already wired in by the sounds of it, you need a head unit that has pre-amp outputs. If you do then you need to connect the lead marked low level, to the pre-amp outputs on the back on your head unit. You then need to connect the RMT to the remote output coming out of your head unit. This will usually be a blue wire, but when I say connect it, you would need to either crimp, solder or otherwise attach it, it as it wont come with a connector on. You then need to connect some speaker cable from the R+ and R- to either the front right or rear right speaker, and another from the L+ and L- to the corresponding left speaker. If you are amping the fronts, then you might find it easier to run them to the back of the head unit, cut off the existing speaker wiring and connect directly to these, rather than try and run the cables into the doors.

p.s. I don't agree with the diagnosis that the speakers are underpowered. More likely dodgy wiring.

Ive searched through the car, looked at all the connections everything seems fine cant find a single lose connection anywhere?

If it was a lose connection where would it must likley to be?

I wasent getting this problem before i connected up my new rear speakers.

Also is it best to Amp the rear or the front speakers?

The front speakers are only 10cm but the rear speakers are 17cm.

The problem started since you installed the new rear speakers, so its likely wherever the joins/connections of the speaker wire you did for this are, unless the fronts are also cutting out since putting the rears in, in which case its not likely to be the wiring, it would be a problem with your headunit overloading perhaps, although usually when a headunit is overloaded, you just get a distorted sound.

Generally you would amp the fronts before the rears, as they are more important as that's where you sit, but if the fronts are the oem speakers and you have put decent ones in the back, I would amp the back instead. What speakers did you buy?

Ok i got the Pioneer DEH-P6500 Headunit

http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIODEHP6500

So i take out the Wires Going from my rear speakers to the headunit,
I then connect the rear speakers to the Amp.
I connect the Low imput connections to the rear of my head unit.
And also connect that remote control thingey to my head unit also.

I got some component 250w 17cm speakers.

Correct. That head unit has 3 sets of pre-amp outputs though, so make sure you connect to the ones labeled rear.

Ok ill need to go buy some speaker cable tommorow, Any special cable i should get or just the stuff from B & Q?

Ok im not sure thats the exact same model,

On the back of my Head unit it has 4 holes to put the Low imput connections into.

There is 2 rows of 2.

The 2 on the top Has an L beside it and are Coloured White.
The row under it Has a R beside it and Is coloured Red.

Which ones do i put it onto.

If there are only 2 then it wont matter too much if you get it wrong, as long as you use either the left red and white or the right red and white, although they should be labelled. They will be the front and back, so all that will happen if you get it wrong, is the fader will not work. As for the speaker cable, any should be fine as long as its about as fat as the existing cables or fatter. Not sure if B&Q sell it though, although Halfords do, and ****** also had some good deals on it last time I was in, but they were big rolls.

It aint labled clearly The top row is all labled as R and they are all White the Bottom Row is all labled as L and they are all red :)

Ok i got the Amp wired up correctly i think.

Got the Remote lead going into the back of the sterio the speakers connected to the amp, the amp is getting power, I got the low Imput leads into the back of the head unit.

but.. Im not getting any sound out the speakers that are powered up to the Amp.

Im not 100% sure i got the low Imput leads into the right port on the head unit, some of the ports i put it into produces a kind of noise out the speakers, Anybody got any tips.

There is other ports on the amp like High Imput and such what are they for?

High level inputs are for headunits that don’t have pre-amp outputs. You connect the speaker output wires from the head unit to the amp, but you don’t generally use these if your head unit has pre-amp outputs as you don’t get as good a sound quality. Aside from checking that its all wired up correctly, which I can’t really help with without a picture, I would check the settings on the amp. Try turning the gain up, and check if there are any switches or dials that adjust any filters the amp might have. I would also check the headunit, incase there is a setting to turn on the pre-amp outputs, and maybe check the fader and balance incase they are not what they should be.

I'm assuming the amp is actually turning on as you said you heard a noise, but you might want to check that the power light is on, and the protection light should be off if its got one.
