not sure
hi all ive been reading the photography forums now for some time and you lot have got me useing me camara more than ever befor (even tho i have no clue what im doing and what all the settings are for or should be at for that matter).

any ways how on earth do you lot get pics of water dropping onto a glass with little drops splashing up it looks so cool.
ive tryed on my samsung digimax v800 and have had no luck at all.

i set it to

iso 400
1/2000
continuos shot mode
set the focus automaticaly about 4cm away

now me prob is it comes out very dark even with a light next to it and seeing as im in continuos mode i cant have me flash on.

i think its to do with 1/2000 which i think it needs to be at that for high speed photo taking yeah/no?.

sorry if im talking crap i mean sorry i am talking crap i have no idea what im doing please help.

thanks all in advance.

Can you control the aperture settings on that camera? If so you need to open your aperture wide open to let more light in. Up the ISO if you can and reduce the shutter speed.
Give that a try. Add more ambient light if you can too.

allrighty then that means nothing to me hehe but will look into it thank you very much for your help.

ok here we go on me camara i have (modes)

auto
a
s
m
prog
scene
myset
and movie mode

if i go into m i think thats manual it should allow me to adjust every thing manualy i have

f then i can adjust it from 2.8 up to 6.4
under this is lowest 1/2000 highest 15s
iso are auto 50 up to 400
and mf manual focus lowest is 4cm

so please tell me what i need to set at (sorry i realy do have no clue ive read the manual and it doesent help tbh.

An aperture setting of 2.8 is wider than 6.4. Set the camera to manual mode, set the aperture to 2.8 and try a shutter speed of about 1/500. If it's blurred, you need to increase the shutter speed and if it's too dark you need to slow down the shutter. Set your ISO to the max setting, 800 if you can and make sure the area is well lit.

If it's still too dark and blurred then the camera might be beyond its limits on this shot.

me max iso is 400 m8 so thats that.

ok recap very bright area
f set to 2.8
shutter to 1/500 if dark 1/250 if blured 1/1000
manual focus

ok will give it ago tomorrow will post pics if there any good haha.

am i correct using continuos shot as its a pane to get it as water hits but atleast i could have the flash working.

Try using the flash and take it out of continuous shot mode. You will have shutter delay but try antisipating the drop splash, after a few goes you should be able to get pretty close :)

You will probably have to take loads to get one at the right time but you will should get a better quality image once you nail it.

Good luck & have fun :)
