Hi guys,

I live with my girlfriend (who is expecting in April) and her two kids ( so in a sense my step kids )...

The other night ( I'm pretty sure it was Wednesday night ) myself and my partner were in bed, and I was in that state where you're sort of slightly comatose, just about to drift into sleep and I had this hazy thought/blurred dream which was completely and utterly random -

that basically my step kids had never watched the Truman Show before - and that was it. Nothing more, not another thought, it randomly came from no where and then disappeared. I definitely thought it though and am not getting confused.

Well tonight I've been upstairs in my study listening to music and drinking a few beers... came downstairs and saw that the missus is watching Resident Evil, and flicked through the channels to see what else was on if she was interested in any of it, then saw the Truman Show on Film Four + 1... and said "Oh the Truman Show's on - this is better!"... and she goes "Yeah I know, the kids just watched it".

Why is this a big deal?

Well firstly I've never had a random thought like that ever - like "so and so has to watch this."

The fact that I thought of this particular film in this thought - and it could literally have been millions of others - and lastly, why I thought of this 2 days before the very thing happened - I've known them for 5 years now.

Some of you might be thinking that I've sub conciously picked this up by reading TV Guides - only I don't read tv guides and hardly watch any TV as it is... obviously if it was a sub concious thought process or some kind of subliminal advertising / message I wouldn't know about it as my unconcious would have picked it up say a day or week before the film came on.

I can assure you that this isn't the case, however. Just a massive coincidence I guess but when things like this happen to me it gets me thinking that there is more to this life than meets the eye.

Yeah, probably a coincidence. Stuff often happens and I feel like I've 'seen it before', not really in a deja vu kind of way, but more like I had a premonition about the thing happening.

Yeah this is what I mean, I've had similar experiences before, but none so vivid and memorable as this. This just really struck me.

Haven't smoked any for 7 years now! My youth is sadly over! :(

It was said in Jest my friend :p

Your random thought in bed was one of those weird coincidences that happen time and time again, although slightly worrying when it happens :)

same thing as a song popping into my head and then i turn on the radio and its playing. Happened to me a few times. Just a coincidence.

Yeah I've had that before a few times, like driving along in my car and thinking of a tune, then changing station and its on... always weird!

But the odds of the thought I had materialising were just way higher I thought... it adds extra creepiness that the film is the Truman Show as well!

I get that all the time, usually it's a certain episode of a show I've not seen for a while, then a few days later, the episode is on, it's very odd and could make someone paranoid if you were tinfoil inclined, I just see it as my own personal mind control and that somewhere there are people in TV stations I'm commanding to put on shows and episodes I like, they then go home and cover themselves in peanut butter and run around the house throwing themselves at the walls for my own amusement.....

wait.....what was the question?......

When I was younger I was once in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I randomly had the name "Yuri Gagarin" pop into my head. I went out to the landing and asked my Dad who was sitting alone on the sofa, "Erm, who's Yuri Gagarin?". He looked up at me puzzled, and asked if I'd been playing bamboozle (a teletext quiz game) that day.. I said no. He told me to come and look at the TV and he was playing bamboozle - the question was "Who was the first man in space?"

I was a bit freaked out.

Strangely, I watched the Truman show today with the GF (who had never seen it before)

Conspiracy? I think so!

The chances of them not having seen it before seem pretty high giving their (I'm guessing here) age. Them watching it when it is on TV doesn't seem so weird. Would you have thought it was weird if they hadn't watched it or is it only because they did happen too that it is 'weird'? About 30% weird I'd say.

You might have overheard someone talking about it being on tv perhaps? Might not have been paying attention to the conversation but your sub-conscious was.
Although I've had plenty of times when I've thought of something i.e. a song and its the first song on the music channel.

although there have been occasions where I've had "premonitions" before (and this will sound weird) but I don't remember them until it starts to happen.
example: Went on holiday with parents to Swanage and were staying in their friends caravan. Never been before and the only photo they had showed us was the outside. However, when I walked in I recognised it instantly and knew exactly what each of the bedrooms looked like before I walked into them.

For some reason I'm now really craving peanut butter
