How well would Ubuntu run on this system?

Hi all,

New build time over the next couple of days and I'm looking to run Ubuntu with all desktop effects enabled. The specs are:

Intel Celeron E1400 x64 [2Ghz]
Radeon 1950pro
1GB PC6400 RAM

Should be fine. ATI drives in linux though are not fantastic.

It'll be fine-I ran Ubuntu with a 1950Pro and it worked nicely.

I'd imagine you wont have problems I've installed ubuntu onto hardware thats close to 6 years old without problems

Im trying to run any version of Linux on my Acer Aspire 1680 and while the 3D is more than fast enough for all the eye candy and junk, the whole reliability is a bit of an issue... The Touchpad and the ATI Graphics both play up badly, but it does this no matter what distro I opt for.

I also have a Packard Bell E3242 that has no 3D Capabilities what-so-ever and that run absolutely flawlessly and always has. Running OpenGEU on that.

I've had an Ubuntu system running on an 800Mhz CPU, 128MB RAM (might have been 256Mb), and integrated graphics, ran just about smoothly. With that spec, I doubt you will have any problems.
