How would my existing monitor compare to something "current"

I was just curious, my existing monitor is a 22" LG L226WTQ

Response Time: 2 ms
Image Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Image Contrast Ratio: 3000:1

I don't really know much about monitors, and just wanted to know how much they've progressed in a few years. I bought this monitor for £211. How much different would a "new" monitor appear for similar budget? I.e. are they a lot brighter, more colourful, faster etc?

For that kind of money you can now buy a larger (higher res) monitor of the same panel quality, a 120Hz (3D ready) monitor of the same size/res/panel quality or a higher quality IPS panel monitor which is slightly larger and higher res.

Personally, I would go with the IPS one (the Dell U2311H), here is an in-depth review.
