How would you handle this?

I'm going have to get my big manly keyboard out here but about a month ago I'd just about had enough of a boy racer in our street and so had everybody else so I had a little word with him. I told him that girls don't get turned on by it and it didn't make his willy bigger and he has slowed down.

I'd have a word with him, don't let it escalate into something silly, if he turns out to be a complete ****, back off and get the police involved.

Let us know how it goes.

You could try having a word, just to ask him to slow down, if it fails contact the police.

One method I am aware of that did work in a not-too-dissimilar case locally here, and one which I would be absolutely no means recommend, is after several of the neighbours had a word, and tried their best, the issue was resolved overnight when someone taped a pair of shotgun cartridges to the front door of the guys house.
Don't do that. Might be fingerprints.

Just mention to him that his driving is reckless and that you'd be grateful if he could take it easy when driving round your neighbourhood...

Scuzi just get your best lurgan voice on and tell him if he doesn't slow down the next ride he will have is in the back of a VAN with 4 of the lads.

Failing that call the police and tell him he nearly hit your wife who was out with the baby at the time.

I don't know too much about private roads, but I thought they were comprised of land which only the property owners in said road have a legal right of way or easement over.

Likewise I thought that that also meant that the properties who have the benefit of the road also have the burden of the maintenance of it.

If I am right and the residents do have that burden, then perhaps its something that the residents can discuss overall and then consider paying for speed bumps to be put in?

Again though, all of the above would depend on the actual terms of it being private road and who is responsible for its maintenance etc.

Post humiliating signs all over the area featuring his car or better yet his face. Things along the lines of "This tiny penised man threatens our lives with his **** driving" or "All your neighbours think you are a tool, slow down winker".

The Police having a word is one thing, but what's to stop this div just shrugging it off and continuing as before? Somebody being hit?

I'm talking about a long term solution to anyone driving fast down what seems like it is meant to be a quiet but pleasant private residential road.

police will have a word the first time, but they do have powers after numerous complaints, especially when coming from several different people to take further action. A long term solution is fine, but it's a lot of expense for something that may not happen from other people in the future.

The trick would be to get several of the blokes down the road to go down and have a word at the same time initially. It's harder to shrug off several guys than it is one. Ask him to slow it down for the safety of the residents and if he starts getting funny simply tell him he needs to or everyone is going to start complaining to the police, and don't be afraid to.

As suggested, recording it might be ok and you wouldn't have to stalk, just set up a cheap camera recording the road. Even a webcam in a bedroom window over the road with it set up to record on motion detection would do :)

If it's a private road, then I assume you and your neighbours have control over it. If so, get them all to agree with you and share the cost of putting in speedbumps.

Section 59, antisocial use of a vehicle, applied once a sufficient amount of complaints have been received. Breaching a S.59 can result in the car being impounded and even crushed...
