How would you make a video like this?

I was just wondering how you would go about creating a fan-made video like this...

Does anyone know what software would be involved, and the level of skill that would be required? To me it looks very proffessional.

I'm not a fan of her myself (or Elvis Costello for that matter). I'm only asking about the way to make a video like that.

just seamed to be a collection of clips put together with a song over the top, (although i did skip quite a bit of it)

Given my soft spot for oriental women, I'd love to film something like that. Although it would have to feature Aki Nakada, a Japanese newsreader instead.

Not hard at all to do something like that, could be done with almost any editing program and photoshop or some other image program.

Sony Vegas is a good starting point for video editing, there are loads of tutorials for it. I would recommend adobe premiere though as you can work seamlessly between premiere and then after effects for your post processing etc.

Windows movie maker?

edit: watched the video, had thought it was just standard youtube stuff (like the football player tings). Scrap this.

i dont think any of them are noob friendly really, unless you actually use something really basic like windows movie recorder or whatever it is called.. but it would be like using paint instead of say photoshop.

if you are fluent with design type of programs then you should be able to learn the basics pretty quickly after a bit of trial and error and reading up on some tutorials, it shouldnt be too hard making something like in the link you showed. i didnt watch all of it but it just look like they had put a series of video clips together, added music and graphics made from elsewhere.

No, it's not. If it were that simple I'd just resort to movie maker, as mentioned above.

it actually is, the only reason you would think otherwise is that some sections had more than one video playing at the same time, which means all they did was have videos playing on different timelines and had the videos resized and repositioned so that they would all fit within the video area. Then as i said there was added graphics (literally a still image) made from somewhere (possibly photoshop) and he either put them on the bottom layer so that the videos would show up or he had cut a hole in the image and layered on top so that the videos would show through.

then theres text of course, but thats added similarly to the way images are inserted into videos.
