Ok would like my fileserver to both have a good amount of storage but also be able to easily back this up. Now I know there are loads of RAID configurations and I am a noob in that area. So how would you setup this little lot up:
18GB 10krpm SCSI (may have a second not sure yet) - Windows XP on this?
3 x 80GB IDE, May add a 4th but got a CD-rom on the 4th slot so would have to get a PCI IDE controller card.
4 x Sata drives not sure on size at the mo but probably 120-200gb
Now I know that for RAID I need drives of a the same size, but do they have to be the same manufacturer? Also can you RAID the IDE drives at all?
Any suggestions welcome.
