But is there is no visible traffic which you will need go stop for and there is someone behind me travelling at the same speed as me, say 30mph, I would do that to stop people tgrowing their car in diwn the inside (left lane).
Roundabouts like this are annoying because the way I see it, left is an acceptable lane to take. So if you take right and someone does take the left, I'd be at fault for cutting them up.
Why don't I take the left then? Because then someone could straight line it from the right.
If there is traffic and things are slow, then its all moot anyway. You just both sensibly manouvre round.
Was a tongue in cheek yes, but if no traffic I would indeed take the shortest line around the roundabout. If there is traffic I would just use common sense as with all of them as some people seem to take their line regardless of other road users around them.
