Ok ive been looking through these forums a lot and i see the same people every day saying they have got this and that new, like g'cards, processors, soundcards, mobos, soundsystems.
Dont get me wrong good luck to them but how in gods name can people on this forum afford to spend upwards of 2k a month on parts, ive asked this question before and alls i got was 'oh your just jealous' and 'maybe you dont earn enough' and lots of other crap, point is im not jealous it just baffles me how people can afford to spend 2-3 k a month on bits
either that or there lieing

Some people are loaded, some people dont go out, some people dont have a life other than this... some people born lucky... I could go on

if you really did spend 3k a month on new bits you'd probably be able to sell the old ones off for 2k, maybe 2.5k - if your working and not spending it on anything else thats a reasonable amount.

Why is a bigger question, I find it too much of a chore to even open my case these days, resulting in not using my PC for weeks on end because a fan was catching and making a noise :) Still, takes all sorts.

It depends on how much of your income you are willing to put towards new hardware - it is also worth remembering that this forum attracts hardware fanatics like flies and that some people here even work in the industry

LOL, yeah. I used to enjoy the idea of swapping drives etc... "WOW, an excuse to open the case" but now its just hassle if I can't turn the computer on and use it as and when

2k a month, you're joking, what could they possibly be buying? Sure my whole system probably cost 2-3k or so but, getting a new CPU won't give me much performance, nor ram, HDD's I get more for space, uhh....graphics cards haven't got any better for over a year?

Also yeah, I always try make some money from old parts if i'm about to buy new ;)

also from your previous post linked by another user here, seems you have a deluded idea on the costs of keepign up to date, it is no where near those prices you are throwing around.

Some people earn lots of money and live at home with there folks hence they can afford lots of PC bits and fast cars, I would move home but the misses wouldn't like it :( no bills can give you lots of disposable income.

I used to spent quite a lot, saying that £2-3k gets you a gaming system which will last a year at least. I only really play Quake anyway, the best part of my system is the monitor..

I think a lot of people who are playing the newer games are always changing graphics cards/cpu, but thats only £500-600 tops, and not exactly £3k lol.. I doubt many people spend more than £2-3k a year tbf..

People dont spend that much each month. They spend that much once every 6 months or so and then sell off their old parts. Where are you seeing people posting every month that they bought new stuff? Generally even the extreme enthusiasts that are serial obsessive upgraders, only would end up spending (read losing money upgrading by selling old and buying new) a copuple of hundred every month or two.
