5 years and zero (or pretty much zero) infrastructure improvements, newcastle fans have had their pants pulled down by the owners. Happy enough to moan about the sly 6/red cartel or whatever instead of questioning the owners.

I think they've been happy to use this excuse but I'm not sure it's true. As we've seen with City and Chelsea, the rules aren't bullet proof and there are ways to push the limits of what you can spend but Newcastle haven't really tried. There's plenty of completely aboveboard stuff they could have done too that they haven't. There's nothing stopping them putting cash into the club, allowing them to pay transfer fees up front, giving them a huge advantage over rival bids. We keep getting told about big plans for the training ground and stadium but little seems to be happening there.

I think the reality is they weren't ever fully committed to Newcastle and it took a lot of convincing from Staveley to get them to invest and the little interest they had has waned.

If he can adapt and handle the pressure I suspect he's do alright. He certainly has better credentials than Carrick, but hopefully the latter does well.

I am not surprised he has left. They have sold all their good players. I wonder where he will end up. After the League Cup win it looked like Newcastle were going places. Now they are going backwards towards relegation.
