How's the 2nd hand car market?

I'm selling my Jeep on ebay at the moment. Haven't really pushed it and being quite firm with the money. Had 8 offers so far. Not too far off asking but I'm in no hurry. Even if my next car comes before its gone I can hold on to it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I will certainly take on board putting up the service details as well as getting some pics of the bumps at the weekend.

It's got 13 watchers at least so I can see that people do have an interest in the car / price, just need to be a bit more patient!

I'd imagine 126k + on an Alfa is putting 80% of the market off.

1.26 giga-miles!

It takes ages to shift a car at the mo, even if its a 'bargain'. You've dont the best thing by putting it on as a classified ad, the auctions are such a PITA!

It will take longer for that car tho, its an Alfa with high miles, not the most desirable of combinations :(

In terms of getting offers.......some Ebayers are complete ****'s really take the pee with offers, sold an Accord Exec Estate a while ago, it was up for 3995, which was 500 under book in the 1st place, I had one guy come down and offer 1900.........and he had a straight face whilst doing so, I just locked the car and walked back inside with out even talking to him!

My Jeep currently has 49. It was 50 but then I guess someone trimmed thier watching page.

I've had a couple of offers a week so far. One lad wanted to come down from Inverness to get it but chickened out. Couple of time wasters one in particular told me over the phone how is was going to jack it up and drive over the Spanish mountains in it but he never turned up.

I've asked a car dealer friend of mine to look out for an Audi estate so until that arrives I'm not fussed if the Jeep doesn't sell.

Being on Scoobynet, the Impreza market is shocking. Even Pistonheads shed of the week was a £1000 Impreza wagon that exactly look knackered.

Had few more offers, up to £3501 but still too low for me. I've now added a video to the listing to show people the negative parts that I raised in the listing.

I've not had a single viewing though and only a couple of messages!

Luckily the car hasn't sold at the moment as the replacement 159 I bought is having a new power steering pump fitted!

Its hot and miss with what sells where. Had a Yaris 53 reg on Ebay for a week, and not a sausage, had it on AT for less than 24 hours and have had 8 or so calls, hopefully some viewings tomorrow.

Very strange, I guess most of the people look for cars on autotrader, it's probably the one that comes to their mind first.

Should be relatively easy to sell a Yaris, small cars are pretty much always in high demand.

I'm about to put a car up for sale (Pug 3008) and dreading it. I can't see it selling very quickly, and it's got a few cosmetic dings to it. I want rid so going to put it up a grand or two less than what is there already. Just don't really have the time to be doing it.

We'll see. Just started advertising my 10 plate Civic diesel on ebay and Pistonheads as they are both a lot cheaper than Auto Trader although granted its likely to get more interest on AT.

I doubt a Civic Diesel will have much trouble selling to be honest.

My next step is to bung another 12 months MOT on it as it runs out the end of the month.

Once the classified ad ends later this week I'll probably stick it on an auction with a reserve and see where we get to.
A long MOT on a used car is always nice. It would be worthwhile getting it done sooner rather than later IMO. Whether it should or not a 126k Alfa with next to no MOT would probably put me off.

I'm more than happy to put it in for it's MOT so it's booked in for Thursday. Any car with a very short or no MOT isn't going to attract the buyers!
