How's this for beginners bike + accessories ?

Wanting to get into cycling and hopefully within the next few weeks will be ordering the 500SE which is on offer for an outstanding price I think.

But just wanted everyone's opinion on the rest of the kit I've picked out too.

Main use initially will be a short 5 mile commute to work. With the aim to start getting into longer social rides on a weekend.

Ah I thought they were just mountain style rather than mountain bike!

I think I've seen the mountain style shoes with clip system before. But Decathlon don't seem to sell these.

I can ride a bike!

Never rode a road bike though, but am confident.

So swap the pedals round and everything else is good?

Thanks, so it's just aesthetics? I prefer the MT44, they look so much nicer.

They're nice, but I'm after having shoes which look "as normal" as possible. So they just look like normal walking shoes rather than flashy racing bike shoes.

The MT44 look the best so far.

Well all things going well, I shall be picking up the Triban this weekend from Edinburgh (my closest Decathlon store). Been e-mail the store for the past few weeks trying to arrange for my full order to be put aside. Still not of great confidence this has been done, but I suppose I won't know til I travel up!

Do you think I could fit the bike into the back of my Ford Focus with the back seats down?
