So i went into college today and told if i make a room on maya i can boost my marks on my assesment to a distinction, So i spent most of the night doing this

2-3 hours making it and then it took 40 minutes to render it with 256 Samples per pixel, I know the pillow went goofy because I lost the texture I used for it, Taking into account that I have only used this program for just over a month and a half how do you think I did?, I'm hoping to get into this as a job when once I finish college and uni

I was going to do my room but its not that great, I did this from the top of my head, Its what I would want my room to look like :), I did take some of my room into it though well just a wardrobe that isnt really visible in that render
 
The most important thing for you to work on is scales and perspectives.

Most of the stuff you have made appears to be skewed in either width or height.

It looks like you have the basics of using the tools down, now you just need to focus on making sure everything is to the correct scale.

The door for example looks WAY too big, the fireplace looks too short in height, the shelf above it is very low, as does the wardrobe off to the right.

There isn't any skirting board either, which throws the image off and makes the floor look a bit flat due to how it adjusts the perspective.

Thanks! :) I've got a lot to learn still! :) I noticed with some of my Perspectives that for example i did a wardrobe it looked a bit too big so i made sure to tone that down, Is there any tips you have to ensure the scale's are right?

Practise! I would suggest that you should pick up and play with Sketchup as well, it's very useful for making things perfectly to scale as you can model stuff by the millimetre (or decimals of millimetres), which you can then import in to Maya to detail up.

That's my own personal method of choice for anything architectural/room design related anyway.
 
Scale is all wrong. I know nothing about the program or how to use it. Im just saying from an artistic POV stuff is too deep, too tall or too wide etc etc.
