Back in the early 2000's I was a big overclocker. I knew a lot about hardware and how to get the most out of them but now I know nothing... . . :(

I want to buy a new PC but I managed to get this from my work:

HP 6200 Pro Small Form Factor PC i5.
Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 (3.10 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
Memory (RAM): 4GB
Type of Memory; DDR3
Motherboard A614036-002 615114-001 Intel Q65 BTX
•2 low-profile PCIe x1
•1 low-profile PCIe x16

I know its not great and a few years old but I want to buy a new case/power supply to get a good graphics card. But am I flogging a dead horse? Is PCIe x16 the latest socket? If that's ok what Graphics card shall I get?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Biggest issue is that it's a BTX motherboard, so it won't fit in a standard ATX case and you won't be able to mount a proper full size GPU in the smaller case as it only supports low profile cards.

However, you could almost certainly get a motherboard and retain both the RAM and CPU, as the i5 2400 is a relatively strong CPU. If you get the right motherboard (I know ASUS motherboards do this) you can overclock the chip up to 400 mhz past turbo, so you can get 3.8GHz out of it. This would make it a solid gaming CPU in most cases.
